FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When are 2018 results and ATARs available?
The VCE Results and ATAR Service operates from 7am Friday 14 December until 12noon Wednesday 19 December via website and mobile app.
Am I able to receive my results using the VCE Results and ATAR Service?
If you have a VCE enrolment in at least one Unit 3 and 4 subject in 2018 you will receive your grades and study scores from the VCAA via the VCE Results and ATAR Service. Students who have met the conditions for receiving an ATAR in the current year will also receive ATAR advice from VTAC. Refer to http://www.vtac.edu.au/results-offers/atar-explained.html for further information about who receives an ATAR and how it is calculated.
What is an ATAR?
The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank, or ATAR, is calculated by VTAC solely for the use of tertiary institutions to compare the overall achievement of students who have completed different combinations of VCE studies. The ATAR is used in all Australian states (except Queensland).
Refer to http://www.vtac.edu.au/results-offers/atar-explained.html for questions about the ATAR.
What information will be available on the VCE Results and ATAR Service?
The VCAA provides you with the following information:
- whether you have been awarded the VCE or VCAL
- a list of all Year 12 studies you completed in 2018, with your grades and study scores
- whether you have been awarded the VCE (Baccalaureate).
If you qualify for an ATAR, VTAC provides you with the following information:
- your ATAR
- your VTAC scaled study scores.
How can I get my results on the internet?
VCE Results, ATARs and VTAC scaled study scores will be released on the 2018 VCE Results and ATAR Service website (resultsandatar.vic.edu.au) from 7am on Friday 14 December 2018.
You must register for the Results and ATAR service before you can log in to the website or app.
To access your VCE results and ATAR from the website or app, you must enter your VCE student number and the password you created when registering for the service.
Make sure that you keep your VCE student number and password in a secure place.
The website service is free and available 24 hours a day from 7am Friday 14 December until 12noon Wednesday 19 December 2018. After this time, your ATAR can be accessed through your VTAC user account.
How can I get my results through the app?
To access your VCE results and ATAR using the app you will need to download the app to your device.
If I am in Year 11, will I find out my VTAC scaled study scores?
VTAC scaled study scores are only available from the VCE Results and ATAR Service when you qualify for an ATAR. If you are a Year 11 student who has completed a Unit 3 and 4 subject, you will receive only your raw study score from the VCAA. VTAC will only make scaled study scores available once you qualify for an ATAR.
How do I register for the Results and ATAR Service?
You will need to create a password by registering at the Results and ATAR website, or using the Results and ATAR app.
To register, you will need to provide your name, VCE student number, date of birth, and an email address. During the registration process you will choose a secure password. This password must be a minimum of 8 characters, and contain at least three of the following:
- uppercase letter (A-Z)
- lowercase letter (a-z)
- numeral (0-9)
- special character such as ()~`#$*&@^
The Results Service password is not the same as your VTAC PIN. Changing your VTAC PIN does not change your Results Service password and vice versa.
What if I forget my password?
You can reset your password by using the “forgot password” link on the login page. You will need to re-enter your personal information, and then reset instructions will be sent to the email address that you provided at the time of registration.
Can I access results using only my date of birth?
No. From 2018 onwards, you will need to create a secure password to access your VCE results and ATAR.
Are my results secure?
Your results are delivered to you securely through the VCE Results and ATAR Service website and app using the latest security measures. To enhance the security of your results, ensure that your VCE student number and Results Service password are kept in a safe place. Do not tell anyone else your secure password.
How can I get my results if I am overseas?
Note: location restrictions may prevent access from outside Australia during the first 30 minutes of the service’s operating hours.
What if I did not receive my results in the mail?
Your VCE Results are sent to the address supplied by your school to the VCAA. Check with your school as to what address they have provided to the VCAA. If the address is not correct, then you will need to check with your post office. However, address changes after 30 November 2018 cannot be accepted by VCAA and you will need to have your mail redirected to your new address.
ATAR statements are sent to the address registered with VTAC if you have applied for courses and paid the VTAC course application processing fee. If you have not applied for courses or have not paid the processing fee by 5.00pm Monday 10 December 2018, ATAR statements can still be purchased in early January via the VTAC website for $25.
VTAC will allow you to change your address details for receipt of ATAR statement up to 5.00pm Monday 10 December 2018.
